Summer Fitness Challenge Winner
68 year old Jim recently took part in our summer fitness challenge and WON showing us all that age is just a number.
Jim was a very worthy winner making massive progress during the programme and shedding a massive 8.3kg and losing 4.3% bodyfat.
We caught up with Jim after the programme to find out how it went. Read his story below.
Tell us a little bit about you, and why you decided to join the programme?
I am 68 years old in August and last year during furlough from work I put on over a stone in weight and with the gyms being shut I struggled to keep my weight down. When the gyms opened back up, I tried to lose the weight I had gained but the number on the scale was just not moving.
I seen the promo for the Summer Fitness Challenge and decided to go for it, and I am so glad I did. The difference since I started has been really staggering and I feel a lot fitter and healthier. This is partly down to my plan but also down to my person trainer CJ Mellon. He really increased my confidence, allowing me to believe that I can do the exercise and I would like to say thank you for giving me a new challenge.
What was your goal and did you reach it?
When I started the challenge, my weight was 95 kg and my target was 87 kg. At the end of the 8 weeks, I have not only reached my target weight, but I’ve gained fitness and lost inches and I’m absolutely delighted with the result.
How has your 8 week journey impacted on your life for the better?
I feel much fitter and leaner, and my clothes fit me now when they were tight on me at the beginning. CJ introduced me to the MyFitnessPal app allowing me to control and watch what I am eating easily. I still have day’s off from dieting and I have a few alcohol beverages, but I’ve cleaned up my diet and I don’t eat junk food now when I’m drinking.
How do you plan on continuing your new healthy outlook?
I will still go to the gym and cycle when I can, and I will keep using the MyFitnessPal app to keep me on track with my diet.
Would you be interested in continuing PT or Nutrition?
I think I will try Personal training in the future. I really enjoyed my sessions, and the trainer teaches you how to use the equipment correctly and safely. It is also a good way to change up my workout.
