NL Leisure Hall of Fame - Team Shotts

NLL Latest News

Our newest inductees into the NL Leisure Hall of Fame are the group of 25 athletes from Shotts Leisure Centre who took on the Tough Mudder course in June at the Drumlanrig Castle & Country Estate in Dumfries. A mix of both staff and members took part on the day.

Tough Mudder is a challenging 12 mile obstacle course which is designed to test participants both physically and mentally.

We caught up with the team to find out about how they got on at the gruelling event.

You can read the full story below:

1. How long did you and the team train for the event?

The team pretty much trained all year to prepare for the event – we all like to keep our fitness up to a good level. In the final few months before Tough Mudder we increase the distances we run to ensure that we’re able to complete the 12 mile course.

We’ve been taking part in Tough Mudder for quite a few years now so we were well aware of what the course would be throwing at us!

2. What was it like on the day?

It’s extremely challenging on the day. A few of the obstacles we faced were a lot tougher than we expected them to be. The mud was having a real impact on us meaning we had to dig deep to make sure we were able to complete the course. Fortunately, we all dug in and helped each other out meaning that all 25 of us completed the course.

Overall, it was a great experience – it always is!

3. What would you say to anyone thinking about taking part next year?

Go for it! We would recommend anybody who is considering it to give it a try. It’s a great day out and you’ll have a lot of fun. Every year it seems to get bigger and better. If you get involved in a good team it makes the day even better!

4. Any other comments?

The team would just like to say a special thanks to NL members Michael Feeley and David Wilson who encouraged a lot of us to sign up for this year’s event.

From all of us at NL Leisure we would like to say a huge well done to the whole team at Shotts Leisure Centre who took part on the day!
