Transformation Tuesday – Angela Baird
Angela Baird has undergone an amazing weight loss journey and has shared her story with us. You can read it below:
I joined NLL 5 years ago to help with weight loss. Initially I started with Aqua aerobics in the Tryst and then moved on to Easy Aerobics. Walking into class the first day was one of the hardest things l have ever done as l didn't have a lot of confidence and was carrying a lot of weight. I wasn't sure if l would even be able to complete the class. As it happened, it turned out that I had nothing to worry about! The class was so mixed with different people from all walks of life and Yvonne the instructor made everyone feel very welcome – she was great.
Due to attending classes, and my healthy eating, the weight was starting to decrease as my confidence increased. This allowed for me to try the Les Mills classes and l haven’t looked back since. My first Body Pump class was with Rema and again she was extremely welcoming, encouraging and an amazing instructor. After this my confidence was sky high and I started trying more new classes, I couldn’t believe that not only was I completing classes – I was enjoying them too! It’s safe to say that from this point on I was hooked.
After this I then found the last piece of the puzzle, early Morning classes at Broadwood. This is when l realised that something had changed – I loved exercising! I was now willingly getting up at 5am to work out and I was loving it. The early morning crew are amazing, it takes a bit more dedication to get up at that time in the morning and we are all as crazy as each other! Shona Jack our instructor is a major reason why I get up at that time of the day. She’s a brilliant instructor and has done more to help me than she will ever know.
Throughout my weight loss journey I have lost 8 stone and have found new and amazing friendships. Whilst ultimately your health is the most important thing a person can have, but the feeling of belonging and friendships l have found through NLL just might just be worth more than that physical health.
