North Lanarkshire kids are green for gold..!

Sunday, 28 June 2015 NLL Latest News

18 children from across North Lanarkshire are proudly representing Scotland in Alkmaar, Holland at this years's International Children's Games and our young golfers are leading the way with a fabulous charge into the medals.

Greig Dalziel grabbed gold in the singles and together with Scott Thomson has also picked up a silver in the team competition - a fantastic result against high quality opposition.

In the pool Duncan McKinney and Mark Hill just missed out on the medal positions in early events but recorded some fantastic 'PBs' and will be hoping for better luck as the aquatics programme continues.

Meanwhile Robin Morrison and Tegan Kerr both grabbed bronzes in the B finals for the 100m backstroke and 50m fly respectively.

In football, despite high hopes, team North Lanarkshire were agonisingly eliminated. Despite an incredible 18-1 win against Joure of the Netherlands they missed out on a a quarter final place to Innsbruck.

The focus now switches to athletics where all eyes will be on Lucy Somerville as she goes in the 800m semi-final.
