NLL Walking Football Champions!

NLL Latest News

On Sunday 24th June NLL Walking Football Team participated in a 12 team tournament at Alloa Athletic and came out as winners. As a result of this, the team were then selected to represent Scotland at the Home Nations tournament on Sunday 29th July.

Team NLL successfully negotiated the group stages to reach the final after winning 2 games. The final was a tight affair with the match finishing 1-1. The team however triumphed on penalties with Ian Hillon scoring the winner for Team NL Leisure!

NL Leisure were crowned Home Nations champions and the team celebrated long into the night after their amazing success!

Ian Hillon commented:

“I got cancer in 2008 and then a triple bypass at the Jubilee. I used to enjoy playing football but I was worried I would just have to sit at home after the operation. Thankfully I was told about walking football and it’s saved me to be honest. It helps you keep fit as well as getting the chance to have a laugh”.

All of us here at NL Leisure would like to say a huge well done to the team and the coaches for making this amazing achievement possible.
