NLL Legend - Gwen Sloan!
Meet our latest NLL Legend, Gwen Sloan, a member at the Time Capsule. Gwen has been on an inspiring fitness journey which has seen her lose well over 3-stone. With a combination of healthy eating and exercising, Gwen has achieved her goals and is now hugely enthusiastic about health & exercise!
All of us here at NL Leisure would like to say a huge well done to Gwen on her incredible achievements. Read her story below.
1. How long have you been an NL Leisure member?
I joined NL Leisure in 2013 so I've been a member for over 5 years now!
2. Tell us why you started your fitness journey?
Simply, I didn't want to be 40 and fat! I had begin to lose some weight through swimming and pilates before deciding to increase the amount of exercise I was doing. In January of this year I started losing some more weight and again increased the level of exercise that I was doing.
3. What fitness classes do you enjoy attending?
This year, I started attending Circuits and this is where I met Tracy who set me up with a gym programme. The programme helped to make a massive difference to my body shape and I'm now 3-stone lighter! I still go to fitness Pilates, Circuits, and attend the gym up to 3-times a week when I can.
4. What's your favourite thing about attending?
I enjoy going to classes as it gives me some 'me' time and I get to mix with other members. The instructors are all so encouraging and that makes it a more enjoyable experience. It has been easier that I expected it to be to get into a new routine and I'm now at a point where if I haven't been for a few days, I'm starting to feel guilty!
I can't believe the difference it has made as I have more energy and that in turn gives me a boost to keep going back. I wish I had made these changes years ago, but it goes to show that even starting now can make a difference.
