NL Leisure Pitch Improvements

NL Leisure are excited to announce that we will be investing over £850,000 in the next six months into our artificial football pitches at venues across North Lanarkshire.

Football remains one of the most popular sports in Scotland and we are proud to support grassroots development through investing a considerable sum of money into facilities across the region. A list of scheduled works can be found below.

Sir Matt Busby Pitch 11-a-side pitch

From Monday 1st October, Sir Matt Busby Sports Complex (Bellshill) artificial 11-a-side pitch will be closed for refurbishment as a new surface is laid. It is anticipated that the pitch will reopen on Monday 12th November.

Ravenswood (Cumbernauld)

Ravenswood artificial 11-a-side pitch (Cumbernauld) will also be closing for refurbishment on Monday 22nd October for refurbishment as a new pitch is laid. It is anticipated that the pitch will reopen on Monday 3rd December.

Wishaw 5-a-sides

From Monday 29th October, the 5-a-sides surfaces at Wishaw Sports Centre will be closing for refurbishment. It is anticipated that they will reopen on Monday 3rd December.

Wishaw Tennis Courts

From Monday 29th October, the tennis courts at Wishaw Sports Centre will be closed for refurbishment. It is anticipated that the courts will reopen on Monday 3rd December.

Broadwood 5-a-sides

From Monday 3rd December, three of the four 5-a-side pitches at Broadwood Leisure Centre will be closed for refurbishment. It is anticipated that the pitches will reopen in early 2019.

Ravenscraig Indoor 11-a-side pitch

From Monday 14th January 2019, the indoor 11-a-side pitch will be closing temporarily to undergo refurbishment. A new surface will be laid, with the pitch scheduled to reopen on Monday 25th February.

Please note that all of the above works, with the exception of the indoor pitch at Ravenscraig are weather dependent and therefore subject to delays. We will be sure to keep customers updated should any delays occur and will update this page when necessary.

These works are part of an ambitious £3.2 million Capital Programme which will involve a series of works taking place across the NL Leisure estate. As well as pitch replacements, these works include upgrades to changing facilities at venues, building improvements, swimming pool improvements and more. We will issue further updates on these works and temporary closures that may occur in due course.

Whilst we understand that these refurbishments may cause some disruption, NLL would like to reassure the public that these works are essential in achieving our goal of providing the people of North Lanarkshire with quality sports facilities all year round.  Our football pitch improvement programme is the most ambitious that we’ve undertaken and we look forward to opening the new and improved pitches in the very near future.
