NL Leisure Hall of Fame - Alan Frampton
Our latest inductee into the NL Leisure Hall of Fame is member Alan Frampton. Alan who is 80 years of age attends Gym Fit at the Tryst Sports Centre on a daily basis. We recently caught up with Alan who told us why he still enjoys keeping fit and attending classes.
Read his bio below:
1. What motivates you to attend Gym Fit every morning?
I enjoy coming to Gym Fit as it keeps my mind and body health & active. I am part of the Cumbernauld & Kilsyth Ramblers group as I enjoy walking a lot. Previously on our walks I used to struggle keeping up with the group, and sometimes my legs were just not strong enough. However now I have none of these problems and I’m enjoying the walks more than ever!
2. What advice would you have for other people your age about attending?
My advice for anybody my age who was considering attending Gym Fit or any other classes is to just go for it! Not only do the classes help keep you fit, but they also have a great social element attached to them. You meet a lot of different people at the classes – all of whom have different fitness levels.
If I can do it, anyone can!
3. What’s your favourite thing about attending Gym Fit?
My favourite aspect about attending Gym Fit is that the classes are always different. The trainers Chris & Mike always change the routines to keep things interesting. Sometimes I can find going to the gym a bit boring but that’s not the case with Gym Fit. As well as this, I also really enjoy meeting lots of different members. And of course, the Gym Fit classes keep me fit and strong for my walking hobby.
4. Any other comments?
The trainers Chris & Mike keep me interested in the classes and always keep me motivated throughout. I aim to go to the Gym Fit classes most days if I can. I’ll sometimes make a day of it and use the health suite facilities at the Tryst as well. The sauna and steam rooms keep me refreshed and help set me up for my ahead.
We are sure you’ll all agree that Alan is an extremely worthy inductee into the NL Leisure Hall of Fame! We hope you enjoyed reading his story.
