What are the British Transplant Games? 

 The Games help deliver Transplant Sports aim to demonstrate the benefits of transplantation whilst increasing public awareness of the need for more people to join the NHS Organ Donation Register and discuss their wishes with their families. They also seek to thank and celebrate donor families and the gift of life.

North Lanarkshire welcomes you to the 40th edition of the Westfield Health British Transplant Games which will be held across the region from Thursday 27th July to Sunday 30th July 2017.

 Disruption to Service

We are of course extremely proud to be hosting the 2017 British Transplant Games at several of our venues throughout North Lanarkshire. The games begin on Thursday 27th July, and will conclude on Sunday 30th July.

Throughout this period, and in the days before the games, there will be some disruptions to service at the following venues:

  • Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility
  • Wishaw Sports Centre
  • Sir Matts Busby Sports Complex
  • The Time Capsule
  • Lochview Family Golf Centre
  • A full list of disruptions to service can be a found below.

    Ravenscraig Disruption:

  • The football hall will shut on Saturday 22nd July and will re-open on Tuesday 1st August.
  • All facilities at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility will be closed from Wednesday 26th July and will re-open on Monday 31st July.
  • Gym access will be available until Saturday 29th July.
  • Please note that the reception area will be busier than usual in the days leading up to the games.

    Services at Ravenscraig will return to normal from Monday 31st July with the exception of the indoor football hall which shall reopen on Tuesday 1st August.

     

    Wishaw Sports Centre:

  • The Hybrid Pitch will be shut on the 27th & 30th July.
  • The running track will be shut for a period Friday 27th July and will re-open at 4pm.
  • The running track will be shut on both the 29th and 30th July.
  • The main hall will be shut from 3pm on Thursday 27th. The hall will remain shut on Friday 28th July, and will also be shut on Sunday 30th July.
  • The sports-hall will be shut on Friday 28th July.
  • The Swimming Pool, and concourse will be shut on Thursday 27th July, and again on Sunday 30th (The pool will re-open at 4pm on Thursday 27th July).
  • All facilities at Wishaw Sports Centre will be shut on Sunday 30th July.
  • Please note that the reception area may be busier than usual in the days leading up to the games.

    Services at Wishaw Sports Centre will return to normal on Monday 31st July.

     

    Sir Matt Busby Sports Complex:

  • The full venue will be shut on Saturday 29th July.
  • All services at the venue will re-open on Sunday 30th July.

     

    The Time Capsule:

    • Last admission to the pool shall be at 2.30pm on Friday 28th. The pool will be closed & cleared by 4pm. 
    • The sports-hall will be closed from 12pm on Friday 28th. 
    • The last admission to the Ice Rink & Soft-play area will be at 2.30pm on Friday 28th. With both areas shut from 4pm onward. 
    • All All areas within the venue will be shut to the public from 4pm onward on Friday 28th July, (excluding the gym area).

    Services at the venue will return to normal on Saturday 29th July.

     

    Lochview Family Golf Centre:

  • The course will be used for practice between 7.30am – 5.30pm on Thursday 27th July and will therefore be busier than usual.
  • The course will be closed between 7am – 5pm on Friday 28th July.
  • The course will be open as normal from Saturday 29th July.
