Advent Abs Winners!

Tuesday, 18 December 2018 NLL Latest News

Huge congratulations to our joint winners of Advent Abs, Caterina Di Lorenzo and Sharon McGowan.

Both Sharon and Caterina are deserved winners with great transformations and fantastic back stories.

Well done ladies, you are a real inspiration to us all. We have listed some more information on both of our winners below.

We will have full stories on both of our winners, including their full fitness journeys in January.

Caterina Di Lorenzo -

"I have been a member of Broadwood Leisure centre since 2015 and tried to stay “active” as much as I could. In November 2016 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent gruelling treatments throughout 2017 (surgery, chemo, radio, the whole lot!). It’s unbelievable to think that such a toxic treatment actually saves your life! The list of side effects from such a heavy regime is incredibly long and something I will probably have to live with for the rest of my life, nonetheless I am so incredibly grateful to be alive!

I can’t exactly remember how I came across the “Advent Abs” programme but I thought “what’s the worst that can happen?” Perhaps just embarrass myself by being so incredibly unfit, which in the grand scheme of things (after my 2017 nightmare) was really nothing! So, I went for it, hoping that the programme would motivate me to start a new healthy chapter in my life.

My main goal was to break the unhealthy mental thoughts that I could not “fix” the unhealthy body that I was left with. I wanted to feel stronger and of course wanted to lose some weight!  I genuinely did not expect to see much of a difference in such a short period of time! I do feel that my strength has improved considerably. I felt so happy when I realised I was lifting heavier weights compared to when I first started.

I cannot finish this section without thanking Thomas and the NLL team who has been very patient with me and designed exercises to suit my needs! THANK YOU!"

Sharon McGowan -

My name is Sharon, I am a mum of two who is trying to stay healthy and fit enough to keep up with my boys. I decided to join advent abs as it was a good opportunity to get some expert advise on nutrition and direction on workouts through the PT sessions with Chris as I have been feeling stuck in a rut for a while.

My goal was to reduce body fat and do more lifting of weights. I feel great and with regular pt sessions with Chris I have been lifting heavier weights than I ever have and really enjoying learning something new too.

I was really shocked to be told that I needed to eat an extra 500cals a day as well as adjusting my macros to increase my carb intake and lower my protein intake.  Once I got over the feeling that I am force feeding myself to reach my new daily goals, I have enjoyed changing my meals up and have definitely felt more energetic and stronger when doing my workouts.  I will take this new awareness of nutrition and doing more weight based workouts into the new year.

PT sessions with Chris have been really educational as not only does he tell you what to do, he also explains which muscle groups you are working, why you should do this type of workout and I feel as though I know now more about targeting problem areas.

Keep an eye on our social media channels in January for full stories on both of our winners along with some other incredible transformations from other Advent Abs participants.
