Sport Coaches (Fixed Term) (5 posts) (4 hours variable)                     NLL 53/19

£10.80 to £13.24 per hour

 

Based within our venues throughout North Lanarkshire, you will work within our Sports Development diversionary projects, working at various Leisure Centres throughout North Lanarkshire. The overall aim of the projects is to provide diversionary activities on Friday and Saturday evenings.  The projects objectives are to improve the health and wellbeing of participants whilst encouraging positive attitudes towards physical activity and the community.

As part of a strong, established team of coaches, you will be responsible for planning, organising and delivering an appropriate range of sports activities. You will be a dynamic and experienced sports coach who will inspire young people to achieve their full potential during the projects and to deliver top quality sessions.

As a requirement of these posts, the successful candidates must obtain Protection of Vulnerable Group (PVG) membership through Disclosure Scotland. If the successful candidates are currently a PVG Scheme member the cost of a "Scheme Update" is £18. If the successful candidates are not a PVG Scheme member the cost for PVG membership is £59.

* As a variable contracted employee, your hours of work are variable as per the weekly rota issued to you. You will be required to work a minimum of 4 hours each week. You will be required to work additional hours up to a maximum of 35 hours per week when authorised and necessitated by the needs of the service. Due to the nature of a variable hours’ contract, there is a requirement for you to be flexible in terms of the hours you are available to work and the venues you are available to work in. You will be expected to work in any venue within North Lanarkshire if required, however, every effort will be made, where possible, to ensure that staff work in cluster sites in either the north, central or south of the area. Please note that variable contracted employees are entitled to all North Lanarkshire Leisure Terms and Conditions of Service on a pro rata basis.

Pattern of hours: You will be required to work these hours flexibly over 7 days.

Based within our venues throughout North Lanarkshire, you will manage the effective operation of our sport projects and ensure the team provides an efficient and effective coaching experience for all young people within the programme. Reporting to the Sports Development and Participation Officer, you will provide weekly reports whilst adhering to the company’s policies and procedures.

Educated to HNC or HND level within a sports related subject or extensive experience in delivering sports development you will have a good knowledge of managing and developing a range of programmes, experience of supervising staff and have a background of partnership working. Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills as well as ensuring confidentiality and professionalism at all times, are essential for this post.
