New Year, New Goals!

2018 is upon us and it’s time to hit the gym and get in shape! Here at NL Leisure we have some advice that will help you on your fitness journey – it’s our aim to help our members smash all of their goals this year! Whether it’s weight loss, muscle gain, or just increasing your fitness, our friendly and hard-working staff will be with you every step of the way!

1. Don’t be scared!

Going to the gym can at first be an intimidating experience. You might feel unfit and that you’re struggling – but don’t worry! The truth is that at this time of the year, most people are in the same boat. Our gyms are super friendly and the staff on hand only want to help ensure that your experience is a positive one. They’ll help you in any way they can, and will help push you towards your goals.

2. Go with a friend.

We all do it, we often make excuses for ourselves and can quickly find our way out of our good intentions. Going to the gym or fitness classes with a friend can be an excellent motivator for us, and allow us to start reinforcing good habits! You won’t want to let each other down, and you’ll help motivate one and other, it’s a win-win situation all round!

3. Keep it fresh!

When you go to the gym, make sure you keep mixing your routines up. Doing the same thing over and over can become boring and demoralising, instead freshening up your workout every few weeks will help keep you motivated and engaged! Find out more about this here.

4. Set mini targets.

If you’re just starting back at the gym, you don’t want to be setting yourself unrealistic, unachievable targets. Instead setting small goals that you can work up to will be an excellent motivator! Reward yourself each time you achieve a new target, and don’t be afraid to look back at your success and measure how far you’ve come! Whether that’s losing a few pounds, achieving a personal best, or lifting more than ever – be sure to celebrate your achievements!
