Summer is fast approaching and we all have aspirations of achieving our perfect summer body! Here at NL Leisure we’ve put together our top 10 tips to staying motivated and making sure you smash your goals.
Set Goals – Break your targets down into small, achievable goals. This will help you with your progress and keep you motivated. There’s no point setting huge targets that you can’t achieve straight away, build up to these and you’ll achieve more!
Imagine the End Results – Visualise yourself with that summer body you’re aiming to achieve, it will help get you out of the house and into the gym when you’re struggling to exercise.
The Playlist – Never underestimate the power of music when working out! We all need a good playlist to help us get through a tough work out. After all, it’s been scientifically proven that music can help reduce feelings of exhaustion – it does this by triggering positive emotions when we exercise. Meaning our best workouts often happen when we have a great playlist.
Make Exercising Part of Your Routine – It becomes easier to exercise when it’s part of your normal daily routine. We’re creatures of habit, start exercising regularly every week and it’ll soon become second nature!
Allow Rest Days – As important as it is to stay motivated & in a routine, it’s also vital to schedule in some rest days. Rest days allow for your body to recover & recuperate after your workouts. You don’t want to burn yourself out and rest days will help ensure that you stay on top form.
Workout Together – Working out with a friend is a great way to get motivated and stay motivated. You can help push each other to achieve your goals. Working out with a friend is a great way to test yourself and push yourself to the limit.
Think of the Benefits - Think of all the benefits that come from exercising; fitness, well-being, feeling energised, better sleep patterns, the list is endless. When you’re struggling for motivation – think of all the benefits that exercising brings.
Be Aware of Your Progress – Take time to realise the positive changes and progress that you’ve made. Whether it’s running for longer, or lifting heavier weights – you’re achieving your goals and it’s something you should applaud yourself for. Recognising the progress you’re making will help keep you motivated. Be proud of what you’re doing.
Reward Yourself – Your progress should be rewarded. When you achieve a long term goal reward yourself with something – maybe it’s some new gym clothes, or a new pair of running shoes. You’ll feel good about yourself and it’ll encourage you to keep achieving.
The Sense of Achievement – There’s nothing more satisfying than the sense of achievement you’ll feel after you’ve reached your targets. When you’re lying on the beach, you’ll know you’ve smashed your goals and earned that well deserved break!
