Nicole's Full Day of Fitness
A massive congratulations to one of our members Nicole Paterson for completing a gruelling full day of fitness on the 12th of December to raise money for Clyde 1's cash for Kids mission Christmas. Nicole has been a member of NL Leisure member since she was 16 years old and has recently started personal training with us.
We caught up with her to find out more about the challenge and why she’s completed it.
Why did you decide to take on this challenge?
After hearing on the radio that some children in our area will wake up to no gifts on Christmas day as Christmas is a luxury their families can't afford I realised I had to do something. I am currently training to a be Primary School teacher and making a difference to children's lives is something I feel passionate about.
What was the challenge?
Over the course of the day I completed 7 NL fitness classes including GRIT, Gymfit and Circuits across multiple NL leisure venues as well as a 5k walk around Strathclyde Park and a 2 hour cycle within Wishaw gym. The timetable can be seen below.
Tell us more about the charity.
Cash for Kids, as the charity has been known since it was set up in 1980, continues to have as its overall objective: the relief of poverty amongst children in West Central Scotland and South West Scotland who are in need due to ill-health, disability or special needs, financial hardship or other disadvantage. All money raised with their Christmas mission appeal stays within Glasgow and West and goes towards buying Christmas gifts for disadvantaged children in the area and supporting families who struggle to get through the holidays.
