STV Real Hero Award

Andrew coached with the Scottish National Team, and for North Lanarkshire when competing in the 2011 International Children's Games (ICG), and is now a development coach for kids and juniors. His career has taken him all over the world, competing in many countries with Korea being a favourite. Andrew is proud that his students are committed and regularly walk away with bronze, silver and gold medals.

Andrew first tried martial arts aged just seven and his career has spanned 30 years with achievements including winning Scottish and Irish International Championships. Andrew now has his own Camran Taekwondo classes at Kirkwood Sports Barn and thrives on passing on his knowledge, skills and in his own words, coaching his students to the level where they are better than him. Andrew revealed "The facilities at Kirkwood are excellent. I am thankful for the continued support of Blane Dodds, Councillor Jim Smith and Stuart Gallagher who have backed me all the way and provide a local space where I can teach my students - the club is thriving. For anyone looking to take up a new sport come along and try to see if it's for you. It keeps you fit as a fiddle and installs confidence, discipline and encourages interaction. It's a very sociable club and we have great fun.'

Congratulations to Andrew - a true hero and a much deserved award for a remarkable man.
