New Coaching Sessions at Kirkwood.

North Lanarkshire Leisure works in partnership with the Scottish Rugby Union, the Healthy Lifestyles Project and North Lanarkshire Council to develop rugby in the area.

Junior rugby team taking part in 'Get Involved in the Games' at Ravenscraig to mark the flag handover on 14th October 2011 in Delhi to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Team.

The pictures above were taken at one of our Tag Rugby Festivals. Currently there are 6 Tag Rugby Festivals a year, two in Coatbridge, three in Airdrie and one in Chryston. The festivals take place after a 6 week coaching block in each school. We operate throughout 52 primary schools in the local area; therefore go into the schools in a rotation. The coaching sessions entail coaching some basic skills such as tackling, passing and scoring a try. This is then built up to playing games against each other.

At the Tag Rugby Festival each schools plays against 4 other schools. The purpose of the day is all about having fun. At each festival a representative from the local rugby club attends, offering more information about more rugby in the area.
