International Childrens Games
North and South Lanarkshire Council's and Leisure Trusts get set to welcome the world when the 45th International Childrens Games (ICG) comes to Lanarkshire from 3rd to the 8th August 2011.
Around 1,500 of the best young athletes from 80 world-wide cities will come to Lanarkshire to compete in 9 ICG sports.
North Lanarkshire Leisure is delighted to be hosting three ICG sports in two of our venues, with Strathclyde Country Park hosting the sailing completing the sports that will be hosted in the north with the remaining sports taking place in venues in South Lanarkshire.

The first ICG took place on the 5th June 1968 in Celje and was organised by Metod Klemenc, a Slovenian sports instructor who having lived through the suffering of the second world war ...."wanted to create a better world based on friendship and sport seemed to be the best means to bring together young people from different countries."
