Blane has extensive experience in the sport, health and fitness industry – private and public sectors. He was appointed CEO of North Lanarkshire Leisure in 2006 and is a representative for UK charitable trusts on the Fitness Industry Association Board and also President of the European Capital of Sport Association.

Blane's experience is wide ranging, having held a number of positions in the sporting industry including: sports management and marketing, developing an online sports business, Sport, Health and Fitness both in the private sector, working with David Lloyd Leisure at a time of significant growth, and within the public sector sport market.

Blane has played a number of sports and competed in tennis, representing Scotland and being ranked no.2 in Scotland. This led to many fantastic opportunities competing around the world. He also coached tennis at various different levels including playing for and coaching a team in Germany.

Blane is passionate about the role sport can play in the community and believes that sport and activity can provide many worthwhile and positive life lessons, and health benefits, together with breaking down barriers in communities and countries.
