Eddie DollochinInclusion ManagerIn his role as Sport Development & Inclusion Manager, Eddie is responsible for the efficient and effective management of sports development and social inclusion services. Eddie plays a leading role in the strategic direction of sport and social inclusion services, initiatives, programmes and events provided by NLL. A key aspect of this is the aim to foster, encourage and support access, equality and diversity within North Lanarkshire and ensure a fair and equitable distribution of sport and leisure activities. Increasing participation and ensuring there are opportunities and pathways from grass roots to sporting excellence is also a key feature.
Eddie previously worked in the heavy industry until 1990 when he was made redundant on three occasions due to closures. He then moved from heavy industry into community work within Greater Easterhouse in Glasgow where he gained experience in sport and leisure within a local community.
Eddie firmly believes that talent transcends deprivation and sport is an excellent tool to improve the health and well being of the local community and break down historical territorial barriers. Eddie has worked with Glasgow City and North Lanarkshire Councils prior to moving to his posts in NLL.
At secondary school Eddie was involved in football and basketball and played for the Lanarkshire Select for both sports. When I was nineteen I discovered Karate and I have been involved in Karate for 35 years, representing Scotland and Great Britain on the international stage. In 1987 Eddie was part of the Scotland team who won the European Championship.
He has also represented Great Britain at two successful world Championships being the first country to win back to back world championships. Eddie is a 5th Dan and works as a volunteer within one of the local clubs in North Lanarkshire.
