Valerie Mitchell BPhEd was appointed to the Board of Directors in July 2006 as a sport representative.

Val is Head of Volunteering Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee for the Commonwealth Games.  Valerie’s is responsible for leading the Volunteering Department for the Games including overseeing the strategic development and delivery of the Volunteering Functional Areas: Volunteer Recruitment, Volunteer Operations, Volunteer Training and Uniforms for 15,000 plus Volunteers.

Val worked with sport Scotland for six years, where she held the posts of Project Lead Active Schools (June 07 – July 09) and Partnership Manager (October 03 – June  07).  Previously, Val’s work in local government as a PE Teacher and Active Schools Coordinator.

Val enjoys taking part in all sport and going to the gym.

Val has a number of other interests including being a Social Committee Member at Glasgow 2014, having managed the Scottish Women’s Basketball Team and served on Renfrewshire Children’s Panel.  In her spare time, Val enjoys spending time with family and friends.
