Gold Inter Regional Athletics Event

Athletics fans from North Lanarkshire had the opportunity to see top Scottish athletes in action when the new Scottish Athletics Inter-Regional Championship event came to Wishaw Sports Centre on Sunday 10th May 2009. The event involved Senior and Under 20 age group athletes from six regions taking part in the new competition format.

The Inaugural Inter-Regional Championship event is the first major opening Track and Field event of the new “Golden League Series” in Scotland, and kick starts the 2009 Outdoor Track and Field Season.

This is fantastic news for all athletics clubs and athletes within North Lanarkshire. Hosting an event of this magnitude reinforces the great work that is already being done through the North Lanarkshire Athletics Partnership. North Lanarkshire has always been blessed with athletics talent and how wonderful it was for athletes from this area to run in front of a home crowd.
