North Lanarkshire Leisure is a Scottish Charity, regulated by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).  NLL has the following charitable objectives:

• Sport
• Recreation
• Advancement of Health
• Social Welfare

NLL works in partnership with the North Lanarkshire Council and other strategic partners to deliver and improve sport, leisure and health opportunities throughout the authority.

NLL was established by North Lanarkshire Council on the 16th of September 2006 

Corporate Governance

NLL is governed by a Board of Trustees and Non-Executive Directors.  The directors on the board include senior representitives from:

• North Lanarkshire Council (4 members)
• NHS Lanarkshire
• Sportscotland
• Winning Scotland Foundation (formerly the Scottish Institute of Sport Foundation)
• NLL Employee
• Trade Union
• Local Business/Community

NLL is an entirely not-for-profit organisation so any surpluses are invested to improve facilities, services, activity programmes, staff training and other activities in line with the charitable objectives of the company.

NLL is a member of SPORTA, the Sports and Cultural Trusts Association who represent 130 similar charitable social enterprises responsible for delivering sport, recreation, leisure and cultural services throughout the UK.

The Chief Executive of NLL also represents  SPORTA UK of the FIA (Fitness Industry Association) board.

North Lanarkshire Leisure remains committed to ensuring that both its sports facility and sports development operations are Quest accredited. Quest, the UK Quality Scheme for Sport and Leisure is awarded to organisations striving to improve the service provided. The quality award recognises the high standards and continuous improvement of Staff, community partners and the Sport, Health and Fitness programme on offer.
